Trend Watch Spring 2012-Color Blocking and More Big Earrings

A few months ago, I wrote about the renewed trend toward big earrings.  If you have watched any of the coverage for Fashion Week,  you already know that color blocking is back in a big way for Spring 2012!  Designers are showing bright colors, suggesting high energy and optimism, in contrast to the mood suggested by world and economic news.  According the Pantone website,  “Consumers look to spring for renewed energy, optimism and the promise of a brighter day,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “They  have learned how color can help them alter a mood and provide the vitality and enthusiasm that enables them to experiment with new looks and color combinations.”

Color blocking was a big trend in the 1980′s as well.  The jewelry of that era reflected that trend, and coincidentally, the colors are very similar to the 2012 color forecast.  The 80′s were full of optimism and expansion-the color choices reflect the desire for that optimism and bright outlook once again.

Avon jewelry is always at the forefront of emerging trends, and this was no different in the 1980′s.  This week, I’ll be featuring pieces that will help you accessorize your color block fashions, with the colors that Pantone is featuring.  Look for all of these on Ebay this week.  Of course, there will be big earrings!
