Soup’s On!!

It’s finally here-Reveal Day for the Bead Soup Blog Party, and here it is 10:52 PM on the night before, and I just finished taking my pictures!!  Nothing like pushing it to the last minute!!

I had an amazing partner this year, Katherine Gale, owner of Terra Beadworks. She sent me an amazing assortment of beautiful beads and handmade findings.   I found a lot of inspiration in them, and I was able to complete two bracelets, two pairs of earrings, and three necklaces.

I know that everyone has a lot of blog hopping to do, so I won’t take up a lot of time with a lot of reading for you….let’s allow the pictures to do the talking!

First up-the earrings.  The green and yellow pair feature Katherine’s handmade ear wires. And aren’t the peacock colored beads on the cloissone pair just beautiful?

Next, I made two bracelets. Nothing too complicated.  The first one features beautiful copper beads and a copper clasp from Katherine, macramed with turquoise colored hemp. The other is my first attempt at a wrap bracelet.  The leather is from Katherine, as are all of the beads.

Next up, the necklaces. First one features brass peanut chain and blue glass beads from Katherine. These had an antique feel to them, so I used Swellegant bronze metal coating with verdigris patina and orange dye-oxide to age a pewter pendant I have had in my stash since I first started beading.

The second one features Katherine’s copper chain, handmade copper clasp, and seashell coated with copper, as well as a selection of beads in glass, carnelian, amber, citrine, flourite and red aventurine in warm shades of brown, red and orange that Katherine included in my soup.  I wanted Katherines clasp to be seen, so I decided to close the necklace in the front.

The last one is my favorite one.  Katherine sent me this lovely handmade glass shell focal. I used her gemstone beads in complimentary colors.  The connector is made with a cabochon I had on hand, and a silverplate finding from B’sue Boutiques.  The Swarovski crystals dangling from the pendant were actually from last years bead soup from Tara Plote.  The silver plate chain, toggle  and beadcaps are from my stash.

Please be sure to visit Katherine’s blog to see what she made with the soup I sent her.  She has been a wonderful partner, and I’m so glad that Lori paired us up.  Almost as soon as Katherine recieved her beads from me, her family had to deal with an unthinkable tragedy. Katherine remained strong for her daughter and her family, and throughout the ordeal was still able to find time to work on her bead soup.

Oh, and of course, don’t forget to visit Lori’s blog! Enjoy the weekend blog hopping…I know I’m going to!
